"The
human eye is an organ which reacts to light for several purposes" , this
is how Wikipedia defines a human eye. Our eye is like a ticket to the
outside world . Had it not been for the eye , I wouldn't have written
this article . Imagine a world without eyes - a world with no colors ,no
specific shapes , no lenses ,no goggles , no sun glasses . Difficult ,
isn't it?
Eye mean different things to different people .While girls use a range of beauty products like kajal , mascara and eye liner to
beautify herself , guys protect them with posh sun glasses and costly
goggles . Film makers like true fortune makers have left no stone
unturned by projecting girl's eyes as a means to attract a guys
attention . Eye for us is just a commodity and not an organ that can
detect light and convert it into elector-chemical impulses in neurons.
Rarely do we thank God for what he has given us , taking both life and sight for granted . Do we ever think of people , who are not blessed with sight ? Perhaps no , not until we spend some time with them . What do we do when we see blind people trying to cross a road , begging for a penny or singing in trains , either ignore them or make voices signifying our sympathy for their disability .
My visit to a blind school gave a new dimension to my life . They seemed like normal students , playing , laughing , crying , cracking jokes . what set them apart is their innocence , their ability to feel the world with a gentle touch . A simple conversion with one of the students brought a smile on my face , one i had been craving for years . Their simplicity impressed me . I was happy that at least somebody on this earth was untouched by corruption .
EYE- A COMMODITY
BLESSED ?
